Working modes of photodetector device of quantum cryptography system

Annotation: There is given a comparative evaluation of linear and switching mode operation of avalanche photodiodes in a quantum key distribution. It is shown that at low speeds, the linear mode is more resistant to interference, and a Geiger one provides a maximum key generation rate.
