Four-coordinate manipulator for electron-beam welding facility

Abstract: As a part of a complex project, the manipulator ensuring three translational and one rotational degree of freedom to the parts during electron beam welding, was designed. All motions are provided by independent electric drives. The precision of parts positioning (0.1 mm) and movement speed (30 mm / s) is provided by a combination of servo- and stepper drives, combined with digital adjustment systems. The electric drives are based on DC motors. Translational displacement range is of 0–250 mm. The rotational angle is not limited.
