Abstract: Using the conformal mapping technique and the parabolic equation method there were found expressions for transforming the earth surface irregularities in the equivalent value of the refractive index. There are given the numerical calculation results of the equivalent refractive index for the model of the earth surface irregularities in the form of a Gaussian random variable for different RMS heights and intervals of the distance correlation . The estimation of the effective height for the field of the equivalent refractive index is done.
