Abstract: A modal filter (MF) with two tightly coupled signal conductors and two circuit ground conductors is simulated. A conductive intentional excitation by ultra-short pulse is applied between the latter under matched and mismatched conditions. Crosstalk is evaluated not only at the near and far ends, but also along the signal conductors. It is shown that under matched conditions, the crosstalk extrema along the conductors are 1.6–3.7 times higher than at the ends, and under mismatched conditions, they are 3.2–4.4 times higher. The crosstalk along the conductors can reach the amplitude of the impact, have a negative polarity, and exhibit an oscillating behavior. Not only the crosstalk waveforms are investigated, but also their N-norms, which assess the danger of excitation. Their maxima along the conductors were localized, found to be up to 4 times greater than at the ends.
