Annotation: Approaches to the study of human adaptation using mathematical modeling are discussed in the article. A description of the model for predicting human adaptation to the information load is presented. The complex of individual typological features of a person, associated with the nature of the orienting reflex, became the basis of the model. The methods of cluster and discriminant analysis are used to create a model. In contrast to the solutions proposed by other authors, the model determines the characteristic response of a person to informational influences of the environment. It is shown that the orienting-exploratory reaction contributes to the successful adaptation to the information load, whereas the defensive response options lead to the rapid development of maladaptive states. The model was implemented as a computer program and was tested during studies of the adaptation of TUSUR students to educational activities.
