Abstract: The article presents the results of experiments aimed at im- proving the efficiency of emission from the hollow cathode plasma in the electron sources functioned in continuous mode in the pressure range 10-30 Pa. It is shown that the change in geometry of the discharge gap (the change of internal diameter and form of the hollow cathode), leads to increasing of the plasma concentration near the region of electron extraction from the plasma and, therefore, increasing the efficiency of emission from the hollow cathode.
