Annotation: The article contains a comparative analysis of existing evaluation methods for defects resistance of enamel insulation. The standard methods do not always reveal the wires with a low resistance to loads. It was observed that, the defectiveness is the most informative and adequate characteristic reflecting the quality and properties of enamel insulation. The estimation of the probability of failure-free operation for some systems of interturn insulation having number of defects is carried out. The allowable defect rate to meet the requirements of scientific and technical documentation for low-voltage induction motors is provided.

Keywords: enamel wire, turn insulation, defects, low-voltage winding, reliability, reliability function
