Abstract: SAR image processing is extensively used for marine monitoring and control. For this purpose image data can be acquired from Earth observation satellites. The main areas of research include the most relevant: detection of oil spills, detection of surface objects of artificial origin (ships) and mapping of sea currents speed. The paper describes several complex algorithms that solve these problems.
