Abstract: Investigation results of plasma parameters in discharge with non-uniform extended hollow cathode, which is used in plasma source of the ribbon beam operating in forevacuum pressure range, are presented. In cross section, the non-uniform hollow cathode is a combination of two rectangular sections with different width. It is shown that the use of such configuration of the cathode chamber leads to increase of plasma concentration along the system axis. A model, which describes the processes of ionization and current transfer happening in the investigated discharge system, is suggested.
