Abstract: The research is based on the representation of directional coupler as a series of connection of three segments of coupling lines – a two end segments with loose coupling and a middle segment which fits the coupling area. In these segments the coupling coefficient is described by various functions of approximation, which form is determined by the requirements of the parameters and frequency characteristics of the device.
