Analysis of a Novel Class of Waveguiding Structures Suitable for Reactively Loaded Antenna Array Design

Abstract: In this paper, the analysis of waveguides with super-elliptical cross-sections is carried out and their application in the design of reactively loaded antenna arrays is discussed. The advantages of using of the considered class of waveguides in order to control free-space coupling between adjacent radiating elements are shown. This provides an additional degree of freedom in the performance optimization of reactively loaded arrays.
