Abstract: The applications of cellular automata in cryptography and digital image compression are investigated. The symmetric block cipher model is built on the base of reversible cellular automaton. The digital image compression model is built on the base of decorrelating cellular transformation. The algorithm of bases selection, generated from the evolving states of cellular automaton, is defined.
