Abstract: The back ion stream from secondary plasma, which is formed in the area of beam transportation, makes considerable impact on time characteristics of a discharge ignition of a plasma electron source, which operates in fore-vacuum pressure range (5 – 15 Pa). Also back ion stream influences on electrical strength of an acceleration gap and the maximum parameters of an electron beam.
