Abstract: Simulation and experimental results for modal decomposition of a pulse in flat power cables are presented. The effect of boundary conditions at the ends of a passive conductor on pulse decomposition in cascaded structures is investigated. The practical usability of flat cables as a protective device against ultra short pulses is shown.
